Resolution presented at the 2017 AGM, as per the AGM Booklet

Resolutions have been passed at recent AGMs to allow for the sale of apartments at Club Caronte as well as five in the Delta Mar area. As a result of the action subsequently taken, the Committee has been able to invest significant amounts of the sales proceeds in upgrading 43 apartments in Club Marbella / Regency Palms to the ’Sapphire Collection’ high standard and to undertake some significant refurbishment / enhancements in 56 apartments at Club Calahonda, with the remaining 26 to be completed this coming winter.

This year, the Committee sought the authority to arrange the sale of some or all the Crown Resorts’ apartments within Club Delta Mar and the one remaining three-bedroom apartment at Bahia Playa – but only if and when it is considered appropriate at some future time yet to be determined. In the build-up to the AGM – and during the meeting itself – it was made clear that if this Resolution was passed – and the Committee does use the authority so given – the Club would receive further sums to invest in improving more of the remaining apartments. It would also maintain the balance between the number of members and the available accommodation within the Club. A resulting benefit would be that members would not be overburdened with the cost of holding apartments that are unused for large parts of the year.

It was also made clear that this action is not urgently required, but the Committee believes it was sensible to seek authority at this year’s AGM rather than waiting a further year.

Outcome of the presented Resolution:

The Resolution was approved by in excess of the required two-thirds majority of the votes cast.

AGM 2017

The Club’s 2017 Annual General Meeting was held at Chancellors Hotel in Manchester on 1st October and was attended approximately by 40 Members.

Presentations were made by the Chairman of the Committee, the Club Managers and the Resorts Manager. All Committee Members and other advisers to the Club were in attendance.

At every AGM, in accordance with the Club Constitution, two members of the Committee stand down from their posts having come to the end of their elected 3-year term. This year the two members of the Committee standing down were Margaret Main and Stuart Mackenzie. Both had decided not to stand again, so did not offer themselves for re-election.

During the meeting thanks were offered to both Margaret and Stuart for their valuable contributions to the Crown Resorts’ Committee during the past twelve years and three years respectively.

As no applications were received from other Club members wishing to be candidates for Committee membership, it was announced that with effect from the close of the AGM the Club will be run (at least initially) with a reduced number of elected committee members.  It was stated that although the committee is confident that the four members remaining have the breadth of business skills and experience to ensure that this will be achievable, we would welcome up to two additional members of the Club volunteering to be co-opted to help with the work of the committee.  The Chairman went on to encourage any members attending the AGM, who might be interested in becoming involved, to make themselves known at the end of the meeting.  We are pleased to announce that two members did express interest and we are making progress in co-opting them onto the committee until next year’s AGM, at which stage they will be free to stand for election in the usual manner (and members will have the opportunity to cast their votes).

AGM 2016 and Election of Committee Members

AGM 2016 – Top table

The Club’s 2016 Annual General Meeting was held at Crown Resorts’ Club Marbella on 28 September when approximately 60 Members were in attendance.

Presentations were made by the Chairman of the Committee, the Club Managers and the Resorts Manager. All Committee Members and other advisers to the Club were also in attendance with one exception.  Regrettably Margaret Main had been taken to hospital earlier that morning, but we are pleased to report that she is now feeling much better.

At every AGM, in accordance with the Club Constitution, two members of the Committee stand down from their posts having come to the end of their elected 3 year term.

This year these two Committee members were Geoffrey Holliman and Andrew Jenkins. Geoffrey Holliman offered himself for re-election, whilst Andrew Jenkins decided not to re-stand.

One other Club Member (Mrs Jane Hitchcox) put her candidacy forward for election to the Committee and she was elected along with Geoffrey Holliman, both for a 3 year term.

Congratulations are passed to Jane and Geoff.
