Resolution regarding the potential disposal of apartments from trust presented to the Membership in time for the 2014 AGM

In 2011 and 2012, Resolutions were presented to and approved by Club Members to allow the disaffection and later outright sale of up to a total of 23 apartments. Members with one or more of the selected apartments on their Membership Certificates have had alternative apartments allocated, so these 23 apartments have been freed-up in readiness for their potential sale.

The Committee is very aware that it has to be careful to sell these apartments at the best possible price and to use the proceeds appropriately. At time of writing, 7 apartment sales have been completed.

The market for selling properties outright on the Costa del Sol shows signs of recovery and the Club still has a considerable number of unsold weeks and therefore spare apartment capacity. Therefore, at the 2014 AGM the Committee sought approval by Resolution to make a further 18 apartments available for sale, the proceeds from which will again be used for the benefit of the membership.

All 18 apartments identified for potential sale are at Club Caronte. Members owning within these apartments will be offered alternative similar apartments and change-over days, although changes of resort location and change-over day will be possible if desired, subject to availability.
The proposed Resolution was approved at the 2014 AGM.

Thank you Tony!

Tony Howarth

Tony Howarth

Thanks are offered to Tony Howarth for his commitment and many years of dedicated service to our Club and the Committee. He served on the Committee (of the then Club Riviera) from the early 1990s until 1998 (including some 6 years as its Chairman) and then again from 2004 until 2014

AGM 2014 & Election of Committee Members

Bristol in South West England was the chosen location for the Club’s 2014 Annual General Meeting – it having been held at The Hilton hotel in Bradley Stoke on Sunday 5th October 2014.
Some 70 members attended the meeting, which was lively and informative.
Presentations were made by the Chairman, the Resort Director and the Managers. All members of the Committee and other advisers were also in attendance.
Each year two members of the Committee stand down, having come to the end of their 3 year term. This year it was the turn of Margaret Main and Tony Howarth. Margaret Main offered herself for re-election; however Tony Howarth had decided to retire.
This year there were three vacancies on the Committee, following the untimely passing of Mike Hope in February. The two candidates securing the highest number of votes would be elected for three years and the candidate with the third highest number for two years, this being the remainder of the late Mike Hope’s term.
After counting the votes, Margaret Main was re-elected for a three year term and Stuart Mackenzie was newly elected to the Committee for 3 years with Andrew Jenkins being elected for a two year term.
Congratulations are passed to Margaret and to our newly elected Committee Members, Stuart and Andrew.

Interval International had the honour to present Regency Palms with the “Select” resort quality tier recognition award before Christmas 2013.
Resorts in the Select tier provide a great vacation experience and are distinguished by a comfortable and home-like atmosphere. Select resorts are identified by the pineapple, a centuries-old symbol of hospitality, welcome, friendliness, and warmth. Criteria taken into account for the award include resort inspections and customer feedback.
Interval International is delighted to recognize Regency Palms and its wonderful team with this well-deserved award.

Crown Resorts renews its ‘TATOC Resort Accreditation’ A report by Geoff Chapman – TATOC director

Geoff Chapman

Geoff Chapman

It was my very great pleasure to visit the five Crown Resorts in October this year for a re-inspection under TATOC’s Resort Accreditation Programme.
“TATOC Accredited Resort” is a consumer ‘kite-mark’ recognition for resorts that are truly customer-driven in their approach to timeshare ownership and are willing to commit to all requirements of the TATOC Code of Conduct as a minimum standard. We are rightly proud of our ‘Accredited Resort’ standard, and we hope the resorts feel the same way. There are currently forty two ‘Accredited Resorts’ – four of these are new this year and two more are awaiting their Accreditation visit. For more information go to www.tatoc.co.uk/members/tatoc-accredited-resort.
For a resort to be able to say it has been awarded the coveted ‘TATOC Accredited Resort’ status by TATOC – the largest, independent, timeshare consumer-representative body in Europe – is a powerful and positive statement of quality and standards that should have a major beneficial impact both to the resort and to its individual owners.
At TATOC we believe it is essential for the award to be seen as hard-earned and meaningful, and the Accreditation process is rigorous. Accreditation is only awarded for a three year period and is subject to review (and withdrawal if necessary.) Crown Resorts were first accredited in 2010 and were therefore due for re-inspection to retain their valued ‘TATOC Accredited Resort’ status.
The purpose of an inspection visit is to establish that a resort is providing an excellent ‘end-to-end’ holiday experience to its members and visitors. Inspections cover every area from pre-arrival information, reception procedures, resort facilities, grounds, accommodation, activities, restaurants, disability-friendliness and all aspects of a visitors experience right up to the post-departure survey. Inspections also look at organisational and managerial procedures, maintenance and refurbishment programmes, etc., to ensure the resort can demonstrate it is being well managed on behalf of its owners and other guests.
I stayed at Club Marbella during my visit to the resorts but had extensive tours of all resorts. The first impression I had on arrival, and the prevailing impression throughout my stay, was of a truly warm and friendly welcome, a genuine passion for customer excellence and a dedication to the overall experience given to owners and other guests who stay at the resorts. From my first arrival at reception, and throughout my visits to every department, people had a smiling greeting, a positive and friendly projection, a tremendous pride in the resorts and a dedication to giving guests a first-class holiday experience.

Crown Resorts is unique in resorts I have visited in that it offers, through the five different locations, the opportunity to stay at Club Marbella/Regency Palms with their busier atmosphere, the central focus and facilities for the group and Café Marbella, or one of the quieter resorts with their very different atmosphere and layouts. I could see that different owners would make different choices, and these choices might be different at different times of the year. For me it’s a win-win situation – choice is good for consumers – one size does not fit all.
It was with great pleasure that I was able to confirm that Crown Resorts had again passed the thorough and comprehensive inspection, and justly deserved re-Accreditation as a group of resorts delivering a high standard of accommodation, facilities, services and overall holiday experience, and a high quality, well managed, timeshare product to owners and users.
I enjoyed my visit to Club Marbella tremendously, and have good memories of many of the people there. I would love to visit again purely for a ‘holiday’ visit – for me it is always a good indicator when I leave a resort looking forward to a return visit.
Congratulations to everyone at Crown Resorts – from the senior management team to every member of staff I met during my visit – a great job! See you next time.
